Battery electric vehicles are clearly the future of transport so EV charging (and vehicle-to-grid) will be increasingly important.

There are various options for optimising the costs of charging – either by using on-site solar generation or off-peak import tariffs. There are a lot of variables though – when the car(s) need to be charged by, what solar generation is happening / expected, what house battery capacity is available / likely to be required for other purposes – which falls into the wider topic of “Home Energy Management”.
